NED – ‘The Dove of the Holy Spirit flies above Mary’, 2020, expo Inside/out, Gent
Met de site-specifieke video-installatie ‘The Dove of the Holy Spirit flies above Mary’, integreert Annelies Van Camp -geïnspireerd door licht in al zijn vormen – glas-in-loodramen uit de achtergrond van Van Eyck’s werk ‘De Annunciatie’. Van Eyck weet via schilderkunst lichtfenomenen op te roepen, en slaagt er aldus in de werkelijkheid te benaderen.
De experimentele installatie laat de toeschouwer via diverse beeldtechnieken stilstaan bij zijn beperkte waarneming via projectie en reflectie. Schaal, ruimte, licht, illusie of virtualiteit zijn kernbegrippen die haar werk conceptueel onderbouwen met als basisthema’s perceptie en waarneming.

With the site-specific video installation ‘The Dove of the Holy Spirit flies above Mary’, Annelies Van Camp – inspired by light in all its forms – integrates stained glass windows from the background of Van Eyck’s work ‘The Annunciation’. Van Eyck evokes – through painting – certain light phenomena, and thus able to approuch reality.
The experimental installation forces the spectator – via projection and reflection – to dwell on his own limited perception. Scale, space, light, illusion or virtuality are key concepts that support the artist’s work, with perception and observation as the underlying theme.
