Super acht projectie (installatie)
Een alledaagse handeling, namelijk breiende handen, wordt met een super 8 camera vastgelegd. De camera registreert twaalf beelden per seconde. De ‘gebroken’ super 8 look zorgt ervoor dat de toeschouwer de vertrouwde handeling in de diepte waarneemt.
Plus, het ratelende geluid van de projector met draaiende spoelen verwijst naar de breidende handen. ‘De spoel die het filmbandje opdraait’ en ‘de handen die een breiwerk verrichten’ versterken elkaar.
Om dit alles nog meer kracht bij te zetten, werd bij een tentoonstelling in Brussel de super 8 film omgeleid in de ruimte. In de ruimte zijn in bepaalde hoeken film-spoelen geplaatst, waarlangs een super 8- filmpje wordt opgespannen. De spoel waarop het volledige filmpje zit, wordt via verschillende hoeken doorheen de hele ruimte geleid alvorens het de projector bereikt.

An everyday action, namely knitting hands, is captured with a super 8 camera. The camera records twelve images per second. The ‘broken’ super 8 look ensures that the spectator perceives the familiar action in depth.
Also, the rattling sound from the spinning reel projector refers to the knitting hands shaking. ‘The reel that winds up the film tape’ and ‘the hands that do a knitting’ reinforce each other.
To reinforce all this, the super 8 film itself was diverted into a space at an exhibition in Brussels. In the room are several empty super-8 film spools attached against the walls and in the corners. The tape runs trough the space from spool to spool. So it has to run trough the entire room before the film reaches the projector and gets projected.
